WHAT IS A GOOD LOCATION FOR SHOOTING?

For a family session this depends on your children’s ages as well as your goals for the session. With newborns, I go to the clients’ home, which creates a more comfortable and convenient shooting environment for the parent’s as well as the little baby. In fact, I prefer to shoot at my clients’ home for most family shoots. The home provides a nice laid-back setting where kiddos and parents tend to feel more at ease. Whether it be your family cuddling on the couch or your kiddos playing in the backyard; my goal is to capture a glimpse of your lifestyle. With that said, you by no means have to open up your home as a studio. There are a myriad of great shooting locations in the Dallas Fort Worth area. To name a few: White Rock Lake, the Dallas Arboretum, Fair Park, Historic McKinney, Downtown Grapevine, and Deep Ellum. Even modest parks, backyards or fields can provide a great backdrop for phenomenal images. I place more importance on good lighting and comfortable subjects than the actual aesthetics of the location itself.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK?

Maternity: The optimal time for pregnancy photos is 6-10 weeks prior to your scheduled due date. Women develop a beautiful shape at this point and it’s a great time to capture it before the mom-to-be gets too uncomfortable. If you’re pregnant now, and you know you want maternity photos, it’s best top schedule your session now. If you didn’t schedule early and you’re approaching the 6-10 week mark, don’t hesitate to call me. I’m always willing to accommodate last minute requests when possible.

Newborn: Brand new babies are ideal to capture within 4-10 days after birth. At this time, they’re still adorably curled up, sleepy and can be repositioned easily. It’s best to schedule your session several months in advance. We’ll plan your session for 4-10 days after your scheduled due date. If the baby decides to come earlier or later, that’s no problem. I will make sure my schedule has room in it on the weeks surrounding your due date, so we can arrange the best time for you and your baby.

Engagement: The sooner the better. I wish I had scheduled mine earlier when my husband and I got married. We ended up getting our Save the Dates out late because of this.

For older babies and kiddos, there isn’t necessarily a specific time that’s best. It depends on your schedule and goals for the shoot.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY?

Typically babies and newborns do best in the morning. We’ll choose the time based on your schedule and when your children tend to be their happiest. My preference as far as lighting are the few hours leading up to sunset.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY IMAGES?

No more than 3 weeks after your session¬† you’ll receive a password protected gallery link to all of your finished images. From here you can order as many prints as you’d like. Additionally, you’ll be mailed a customized DVD containing 60-100 fully edited, high resolution images, as well as the web-optimized images for sharing on Facebook, Google +, ect..

CAN I ORDER CUSTOM ANNOUNCEMENTS, ALBUMS, CHRISTMAS CARDS AND OTHER PRODUCTS THROUGH YOU?

Yes, personalized stationary and custom photo albums are a perfect way to share and showcase your images with friends and family. After your pictures are ready, I’ll work with you to create a custom design, choose the best printing and paper options for your budget, and then ship you the finished products ready to be signed, stamped and sealed.

WHAT ABOUT PRINTS?

You can order canvas wraps, enlargements and unlimited prints directly from my site through the online gallery that will house your images. The prints are beautiful and affordable and will be shipped directly to your home from the lab. As mentioned in the ‘pricing’ section, I don’t require you to order prints through me. I do encourage you to utilize a professional lab. “Over the counter” photo labs like CVS or Wal-Mart, won’t do your portraits justice.

WHAT TO WEAR?

I recommend coordinating, but not matching colors. Avoid logos and busy graphics.¬† Be yourself and be comfortable. This especially applies to kiddos. They will be much more cooperative when they’re comfy.
