Best of 2012

We are almost one month into the new year, so I figured better late than never to recap some of my favorite images from 2012. Thank you to all of my fans, friends, and family, who helped me get my business started in ’12. You allowed me to point my camera into your lives, capturing moments that were special for me, and hopefully cherished by you.

Nik + Erika :: An Intimate Meadow Wedding

There is something so quaint and intimate about a small wedding. Nik and Erika opted to have a private ceremony with their families and close friends.  This was my first time to meet both the Bride and Groom’s families, yet I never sensed any delineation between the two.  Everyone bonded together as one family to celebrate this sweet couple’s union.  This North Dakota wedding took place in a meadow on a beautiful piece of land that has been in Erika’s family for generations.  Guests sat on burlap covered hay bales and an altar was fashioned out of an antique church window strung between two birch trees.  The Bride’s brother, Aaron, not only officiated the ceremony but also played acoustic guitar alongside violinist and Bridesmaid, Ashley.  It was perfect.  As you’ll see from the photos, Erika is a STUNNING Bride. Wow!  Nik was quite dashing as well. :)  After the ceremony I went off with the newlyweds to take some romantic frames.  Nothing photographs quite like two people so happy and in love.  The reception was relaxed and fun. Grandpa’s old turntable played a collection of vinyl albums borrowed from family and friends. The Bride’s Father made a plywood dance floor which sat under the birch trees. Guests spent the night dancing, playing yard games and gathering around a bonfire.

Overall, it was such an honor to be part of this amazing celebration.  I’m thrilled that Erika and Nik found each other and I know they will have a beautiful life together.

Pete and Elizabeth :: Engagement Photography

One of the reasons I love my job is because it gives me the opportunity to meet great new people. Pete and Elizabeth are so much fun to be around. They’re both hilarious and they had me laughing the whole time.  Sometimes you meet people that you feel like you’ve known for a long time.  Along with their rockin’ personalities,  they happen to be insanely photogenic and comfortable in front of the camera. This translated to pictures that really show off who they are and how much fun they have together.  Pete, thanks for scouting out some rad locations. I might be consulting with you for future shoots. :)  Congrats to both of you!  Special thanks to Dude, Sweet for all the yummy chocolate samples!
