There is something so quaint and intimate about a small wedding. Nik and Erika opted to have a private ceremony with their families and close friends. This was my first time to meet both the Bride and Groom’s families, yet I never sensed any delineation between the two. Everyone bonded together as one family to celebrate this sweet couple’s union. This North Dakota wedding took place in a meadow on a beautiful piece of land that has been in Erika’s family for generations. Guests sat on burlap covered hay bales and an altar was fashioned out of an antique church window strung between two birch trees. The Bride’s brother, Aaron, not only officiated the ceremony but also played acoustic guitar alongside violinist and Bridesmaid, Ashley. It was perfect. As you’ll see from the photos, Erika is a STUNNING Bride. Wow! Nik was quite dashing as well. :) After the ceremony I went off with the newlyweds to take some romantic frames. Nothing photographs quite like two people so happy and in love. The reception was relaxed and fun. Grandpa’s old turntable played a collection of vinyl albums borrowed from family and friends. The Bride’s Father made a plywood dance floor which sat under the birch trees. Guests spent the night dancing, playing yard games and gathering around a bonfire.
Overall, it was such an honor to be part of this amazing celebration. I’m thrilled that Erika and Nik found each other and I know they will have a beautiful life together.
