A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I took a trip to Las Vegas. One night, we decided it was time to escape the bright lights and pandemonium of Sin City. We took a drive, and found ourselves 35 miles south of the Strip at a 99 year old bar named the Pioneer Saloon, a bar aged to perfection, full of stories and new friends, and easily the best gamble we took during our vacation. Over frosty mason jars filled with PBR, strangers quickly became friends, and we realized that this watering hole in Goodsprings, Nevada will always be our choice when we find ourselves parched in the dry Nevada desert.
Vegas has the glitz and glam, but if you’re looking for good people, good beer, and a good saloon that has been slowly marinating to perfection over the past 99 years in the desert sun, then drive south. To all of our new friends at the Pioneer Saloon, thank you for the hospitality, the free shish kabobs (kabobbies), and the stories. If you’re going to Vegas soon, stop by the Pioneer Saloon for a drink or two. You’ll have a great time. I’d bet on it.
